‘Fluctuat ner mergitur’ is Paris’ motto from Latin, meaning “rocked by the waves, but does not sink.”
I drew this illustration just after the Charlie Hebdo attacks. I was in London at the time and felt a vivid feeling of solidarity for my French fellows; not being with them was a burden really, so I had to let it out.. with illustration as a medium.
